Spaghetti alla Carbonara is a simple, comforting dish -- when made properly. It's classic Italian fare that somehow lost its magic when coming stateside, much like how cacciatore, bolognese, and even alfredo have been reduced to comical shells of their original recipes.

Some other tips:
 
*Recipe Entry
 
**Please follow the conventions of layout etc, having to re-edit every new contribution won't be fun for anyone.
 
**Follow the same basic pattern as the other recipes and please try to keep your image sizes under 80k if possible.
 
**Choose your images intelligently, we don't need to see a picture of boiling water for a "boil water" step.
 
**Add your categories, you can add as many as you want, so make sure it's linked to everything applicable. No one will find your masterpieces otherwise.
 
 
 
*Categories
 
**Pay close attention to spelling and when creating a new category please stick to existing naming conventions. For example as a general rule the recipe categories are all singular, i.e. Potato not potatoes.
 
**When creating a new subcategory, remember to add its parent category into your entry. (i.e. add <nowiki>[[category:Main Ingredients]]</nowiki> into your entry for Celery
 
 
 
Lastly, If you want to add a variation to another person’s recipe that is minor enough that it doesn’t warrant a completely new version, add it in a variations section at the very bottom of the recipe and sign with your user name <nowiki> Adding a ~~~ will add your username </nowiki>

As evidenced by the wonderful world of retail, the holiday season is pretty much upon us. Pretty much everyone has at least one day at this time of year where they gloriously descend into that wonderful yet disgusting state known as holiday food coma. For a lot of us it’s Thanksgiving, Christmas never helps the waistline for those of us who celebrate and god help me when Halloween rolls around (and that wonderful discount candy day that follows it).
 
 
With Canadian Thanksgiving just a few days away, and the 6 month anniversary of the Goons with Spoons Wiki falling very close to American Thanksgiving I figured a new contributor contest was in order.
 
 
So between now (October 1st) and the end of December I’m asking everyone to contribute their favorite holiday recipes to the wiki. All recipes will have to be properly submitted (and formatted to standards) by January 2nd. Visit the contest page for prize information
