Apple Glop
Recipe by Bubble Babble Wikified by Drimble Wedge
I thought of another gooey dessert that's really, really tasty. We used to have it for every holiday at home because my mom could make them low-sugar for my grandfather. Now that he has passed away, she does not bother with such trifles. Here is her recipe, in her own words, for what we refer to as...
Apple Glop
- Apples - many, peeled, sliced - I usually do at least a dozen apples
- 1/3 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup butter/margarine
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup flaked coconut
- 1/2 cup oatmeal
- 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
Put apples in a baking dish. Pour orange juice on the top. Blend butter and brown sugar well, add remaining ingredients and mix until crumbly. Spread on top of apples. Microwave until apples are desired tenderness.
I think it's officially called "apple crisp." My mother-in-law refuses to call it apple glop. So not fancy, but most of the prep time is peeling apples. You can double the top if you want, or halve the apples, or really, whatever. It's delicious.
