Introduction
This is my first recipe on this site. I am 15 years old and enjoy cooking. I found this site not too long ago and decided that it was pretty cool and should recieve every benefit it can get. About a month later (today) I found myself poking around in the fridge looking for something to eat. This is what I made, if you have any suggestions or improvements please send them to mpmmuirhead@gmail.com and I would be happy to hear them. As this recipe was made spontaneously.
Ingredients
- 1 Onion
- 1/2 of a Green Bell Pepper
- 1 Sprig of Thyme
- 2 Cloves of Garlic
- 2 Stalks of Celery
- 2 lb of Ground Beef
- 1 pack of Sloppy Joe mix (opt.)
- 1 tsp of Cumin
- 1/2 of a Cup of White Wine (I used Reisling)
- 1 can of Tomato Paste
- 1 tsp of Salt
- 1 tsp of Pepper
- 1 cup of Water
- 1 Jalapeno Pepper (opt)
- 1 tsp Wocestershire Sauce
Method
- Start your cooking by mincing the Onion, Celery, and Green Bell Pepper (And Jalapeno if you choose)
- Grease a Large pot (I used Canola oil, but any will do)
- Sweat the Onion for 2-3 minutes
- Add the Celery, Bell Pepper, and Ground Beef and allow the beef to brown and fat to release into pot
- Drain all but a small portion of the fat (1/4 cup roughly)
- Add water, tomato paste
- If you want to, add the packet of Sloppy Joe Mix for extra body
- Add Thyme, Salt, Cumin, Wine, Garlic, Pepper and Jalapeno
- Bring to a boil
- Stir for approx 6 mins to allow to thicken
Serving
- You may do whatever you want. Although personally, I would stuff this inside of a soft corn tortilla
