Chocolate Cookies

SirRobin posted this recipe in my last thread, and it looked so good I just had to try making it. Unfortunately, all the measurements and directions were in metrics, so I asked my roommate (a physics major) to help me out. I'm not sure all these measurements are exactly the same as the original recipe, but the cookies turned out quite well, and they're insanely chocolatey. Thanks, SirRobin!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup flour
- 6 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 12oz (1.5c) light brown sugar
- 6oz (1.5 sticks) butter
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 12oz baker's chocolate
- 3 cups chocolate chips
Recipe:
I hope SirRobin will forgive me for bastardizing his recipe somewhat, but the last time I saw a "sifter" (which I assume is used for sifting together dry ingredients) was in my grandmother's kitchen when I was 8.
First, put the flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
Mix them together well.
Melt the baker's chocolate. I put mine in my broken-down microwave for about 3 minutes, which got me to this point:
Stir the baker's chocolate with a fork or something to make sure it's all smooth.
Next, combine the brown sugar and softened butter in a large bowl.
Mix it well.
Add the three eggs, mixing well after adding each egg. The batter should look like this when you're done:
Pour in the melted baker's chocolate. Don't eat the chocolate plain, it's pretty bitter.
Mix the chocolate into the batter.
Next, add in the dry ingredients that we've already mixed together and mix well.
Measure out not one, not two, but THREE cups of chocolate chips. That's a whole lot of chocolate chips!
Add the chocolate chips to the batter and stir well.
Drop lumps of completed batter onto your cookie sheet and put them in the oven for about 20 minutes at 325F.
When the cookies come out of the oven, give them some time to cool before trying to eat or move them. The finished cookies should look like this...
