Definition[edit]

Combining two mixtures by placing the lighter mixture on top then using a flat spatula to cut through both mixtures before moving up the edge of the bowl and folding over the top. Repeat while turning the bowl gradually until the two mixtures are fully blended.

If done properly this method combines the two mixtures without destroying the structure of the heavier batter.
