Ingredients[edit]
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 white sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 5 tsbp unsalted butter
- 2/3 cup cold water
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp salt
Method[edit]
In a large glass bowl, melt butter in a microwave. Add egg, molasses, sugar and water. Mix well.
In a separate bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, salt and ground ginger.
Mix well and combine molasses mixture. Mix well again. Pour batter (it will be thin) into a greased loaf pan and bake at 350F for approximately 30 minutes, or until it tests done.
Remove bread from oven and allow to cool. Frost with buttercream and cool again before serving.
