I used this recipe with the following british measurements and had good results (yes, I think every discussion page should have something like this listed!);
19 oz plain flour 1 tsp salt 2 tsp baking powder 250ml veg oil (just under) 8 oz butter 8 oz brown sugar 8 oz white sugar 4 eggs 2-3 tsp vanilla 950ml chocolate chips
