Thick crusty apple cake, similiar to an apple pie, but with a tangier bite. Be warned, this makes a fairly large cake, you may want to halve the recipe for smaller functions.

==Preheat==

*Preheat oven to 350 Degrees


==Ingredients==

*3 Cups of All Purpose Flour
*2/3 Lb of Butter (Margarine works nowhere near as well)
*3/4 Cup of Icing Sugar (Powdered Sugar)
*4-5 BOILED Egg Yolks
*1Kg (2.2 Lbs) Apples, peeled and chopped

To Taste, generally around a half a cup of these ingredients makes for a nice balance

*Brown Sugar
*Cinnamon
*Vanilla (Extract or fresh)
*Raisins
*Chopped Orange and/or lemon peel

==Method==

Base

*Seperate and boil your egg yolks
*Combine the yolks, flour, butter and icing sugar
*Knead the dough mixture until fully mixed, then place in the fridge for 10 minutes or so
*Divide the dough in half, saving one ball for later
*Roll the first ball out until you have a rectangle approximately 1/3 of an inch thick
*Place on a cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes, leaving it aside on a rack to cool for at least 10 minutes

Filling

*Mix the apples, brown sugar and anything else you chose from the "to taste" section until thoroughly blended
*Spread the mixture evenly over the first baked rectangle

Cover

*Roll out your second lump of dough to the same thickness and use it to cover the entire thing
*Bake at 350 Degrees until it's golden brown (About 15-20 Minutes) then slice and dust the entire thing with icing sugar.

== Presentation ==

*Best served warm
*As with anything apple pie-ish this goes great with a topping of Ice Cream
*Though I've never tried it I would imagine a caramel sauce on top of this would be amazing
